To Kill a Mockingbird

Atticus Finch says to his daughter: “Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don’t eat up people’s gardens, don’t nest in corncribs, they don’t do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”

Saint Euxpery wrote, “Your task is not to foresee the future, but to enable it.”

“Do what you can to bring fulfillment to your life today, next week and in the future.*Don’t be afraid to pursue something aggressively if it means a lot to you.* Trust yourself.”

1st Long Ride

Filed under: Training Log — kristen @ 9:35 am

Yesterday I went on a 25 mile bike ride west on Route 40. Coming home I was riding against the wind the entire way. I’ve never ridden past Elk River Road and now I’m going to try to ride a different route each time. However, I will NOT ride up Rabbit Ears Pass, EVER. Okay, maybe when I’m strong enough, but not now.

Today is super windy so I won’t do a ride today. I’ll wait until the wind simmers down.

A rainy Saturday in Steamboat Springs

Today’s Google Horoscope: There is much potential for you to indulge your fantasies today as the Moon returns to your sign and activates Jupiter, the planet of overdoing, and Neptune, the planet of imagination. You may be feeling like you’re on top of the world as you express the intensity of Scorpio without the negativity that often follows. Just be careful not to take your passion too far.

Not sure what to do with myself today considering the cloudy sky and the muddy trail conditions.

Mileage this week:
Run: 12 miles
Bike: 2 days - 28 miles
Swim: 0

Not a great week for mileage, however, worked out every day except Monday. That’s progress, right? UGH.

Swimming

Filed under: Training Log — kristen @ 9:18 am

Went swimming this morning for 31 minutes, hot tub, and sauna. I’m really motivated today to train. Can’t wait to get on the bike. If it would only stop snowing.

And…. a 30 minute run in the snow.

Buddha

“The master in the art of living makes little distinction between his work and his play, his labor and his leisure, his mind and his body, his education and his recreation, his love and his religion. He hardly knows which is which; he simply pursues his vision of excellence in whatever he does, leaving others to decide whether he is working or playing. To him he is always doing both.”
