From a 6 year old after his dog died
‘People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?’ The six-year-old continued, ‘Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.’*
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Be loyal.
Never pretend to be something you’re not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.

1st Major Snow Storm
Took the dogs for a hike on the ski area this morning. We only got about 3 inches but looks like there is more snow in the forecast for today.

Doris Lessing Wins Pulitzer
One of my favorite authors wins the*Pulitzer. She wrote one of my all time favorite books The*Golden Notebooks. And a favorite quote that reflects my life so well:
My life has always been crude, unfinished, raw, tenative; and so have the lives of people I have known well. *This raw, unfinished quality in my life was precisely what was valuable in it and I should hold fast to it.i

Daisy, it is.
She looks like Daisy and seems to respond to it. Through my daily surfing (or what the CEO of Travelocity, who spoke at the Rezfest conference in Aspen*last week*says we Internet chumps are doing now instead of surfing: Searching) I found this essay about a writer and her dog: http://www.annpatchett.com/rosie.html.
Here is Abbey & Daisy playing.
