Morning Hike
The trails in Granby Ranch are getting drier. Yippeee. Here’s Abbey & Daisy on our morning hike. Blue sky, 50 degrees. It’s really spring.

I may have tapered too much. 14.5 miles this week. Oops. I’m well rested, for sure. Heading to Steamboat now. The weather looks good. Trying not to think that tomorrow at this time I’ll be running.
Starting next week I’ll be starting my triathlon training plan for the August 10 1/2 Ironman. I have my swimming membership, my bike needs a tuneup, but otherwise ready.

Ran up the maintenance road to SolVista’s summit just now. I was 10 minute faster than the last time I ran it. [it was snowing that day just a few weeks ago] {enough of the snow talk already}. A gentle run down and home to lasagna. One week from right now I’ll be having dinner at Rex’s in Steamboat with friends and scared to death about the next day. My sister in law, Amy, is running the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington, Vermont tomorrow. Good Luck, Amy. Can’t wait to hear how she did.
Tapering for the marathon starting….. Now.
I can’t believe it. Next week is my first marathon. I’m nervous, excited, panicky. I’m looking forward to seeing some friends that weekend. I hope I finish.
New news. I’m blogging for a news website: www.examiner.com. I’ll be writing an outdoor blog for the Denver area.
Other news: it’s snowing. It’s 46 degrees and alternately snowing and raining. It’s Memorial Day for Crying-Out-Loud. The trails aren’t open for hiking, biking, ATV’ing. It’s too cold to bike on the road. What is a mountain girl to do?

My folks came to visit me. We went to Grand Lake for lunch and it snowed the entire time. It’s May for goodness sake. We took the typical tourist picture at the sign in front of Grand Lake showing the elevation: 8,367.
They tell us Ironman is a superhero.
They tell us Ironman has super powers, with super strength and super speed and special armor and the ability to fly …. But, you see, here’s the deal: they’re wrong.
Ironman is not a superhero. Ironman is real. ….
Ironman is anybody who’s ever dreamed of becoming more, who’s ever wanted to become better than what they are now, who’s ever desired to find out the kind of person they were meant to be.
Ironman is anybody who’s then decided to act, and picked themselves up, and opened the door, and gone outside, and taken the first step of many steps…towards the number of 140.6 as marked in miles, on a journey that will ultimately last a lifetime.
Ironman is anybody.
Ironman is you.

I have another blog: http://myroadtoironman.blogspot.com/
I really want to document my road to Ironman 2009. This blog (www.kristenlodge.com) is more of my Life-adventures-in-the-mountains Blog not really focused on any one thing because my adventures take me all over the place: books, music, biking, skiing, pondering my place in the world, friendships, dogs, family, cool places, the literary life, movies, TV (I’m a big fan, now, of the Gilmore Girls, and am watching every episode on DVD), nature, poetry, and writing. Where myroadtoironman will be about the-biggest-goal-I-have-yet-to-achieve-in-my-life type blog.
An article describing Wildflower and why you must do it.
