Swimming starts next week.
so this will be my last post-run soak. Hot tubbing after a run problem.
-*I cannot imagine taking an ice bath. Perhaps after this, I will need this.
Ran 11 miles before the storm came in. Now it’s windy and snowy.

Sat. is the Pentathlon so I need a day or two off prior. Still behind in mileage I should do, but I’ll be okay if I do the actual for the week: 32.
Today I tried for a long run. My marathon schedule for this race tells me that on Sunday I need to do a long run: 8 miles. But since I have Wednesday and Thursday’s off, Monday’s are my long run day. And, the temperature was 30 this morning-*so I thought a long run would be great. However, last night I had two glasses of wine from this winery, and running wasn’t really fun. The wine was very good: it was American Cabernet and the label has a man mountain biking. Nice marketing.
Lesson learned: no wine the night before a long run.
Randy and I rode out 20 mile road on Saturday. He clocked around 30 miles. I need to get a battery for my odometer; it died over the cold winter so I don’t have the exact mileage for my ride. The temperature was around 70 and no wind. Then ….. on the mountain bike rode around the Yampa Core Trail. It was a leisurely ride, however, I over did it for the first day back on wheels.**
It felt great riding and being outside for most of the day. Today I feel like a million bucks thanks to a great massage later in the afternoon.
And … a cool article in today’s paper about the running series.
1250 yards in 30 minutes. I felt good which is amazing since my progress log shows that the last time I was in the pool was 3/3/07 for 10 MINUTES. Sad.
This is the earliest I’ve ever been biking in three years. Mountain*biked to work (55 degrees) and road biked for 45 minutes (62 degrees) after work.
I’ve signed up for the Steamboat Marathon - June 3, 2007
26 Miles in 16 week….. What have I gotten myself into?
…”Let’s go Jack, almost home,” that man this is good stuff. Man I love this dog. Running today, at a not-particularly-fast pace and during a not-particularly-great run, I had one of those moments where you realize, then and there, that there is nothing else in the universe you’d rather be doing than this, right here, right now.
So five miles ticked by, and I slowed to a walk and Jack looked back to make sure all was well, and I told him he was a good dog, good dog Jackie you’re a good dog, and he looked ahead again, content that the run was over, we could cool-down and walk to the house. At home he gets a big drink of water and a shot of recovery food, like real runners do. …When I came out of the shower he was crashed, hard, in the beginnings of a great nap. The kind of nap you have after lots of fresh air and a good, solid run. Like a real runner.
I’m proud of him. He’s getting into shape. He’s going to run a lot with me this year.*… Now, he’s my running buddy. My never-late, never-not-interested, never too-tired, no-excuses running buddy.
Man. Good stuff.
